Having climbing toddlers is so tough. Our first son was not a climbing toddler he was perfectly happy to keep his feet on the ground so whilst he was super lively I could take him to the playground without fears that he would any minute launch himself towards the biggest climbing frame – not so with number 2!! He is so exuberant and has a confidence that is bigger than his physical abilities so I need eyes everywhere. How do they get to be so quick? One second he is there and the next he is standing on top of the dining table with a cheeky grin. I am on the edge at all times. I am trying not to be that helicopter parent, but the instinct to protect is so strong I would love to just wrap him up in cotton wool and keep him safe at all times, but I have also learnt from him just how resilient these little people can be. I only hope it continues and I can build the confidence up to hit that playground despite the perils left, right and centre…
