‘Term is Over’ – A Parody

For a while I thought that Christmas excitement was only for the kids, but then my kids started school and all of a sudden that long trudge of the autumn term gave me a massive reason to be excited too!  It is the most exhausting term for the kids and so for me too!  The seemingly endless requests for cash for teacher’s presents, school donations and the usual after school clubs etc… along with the necessary attendance at various concerts, the preparation of food for parties and that infernal school run has me pooped and ready for a break!  I was listening to Christmas music the other day whilst decorating the tree and Jon Lennon’s ‘War is Over’ came on.  All of a sudden I was thinking about term being over and I only went and wrote my first parody!!

So this is Christmas

And I’m about done

Another term is over

The holidays have begun

Thank Christ says this Mummy

As I feel over run

Let’s hide out at home now 

And try to have fun

A very Merry Christmas

And a Happy New Year

Let’s hope we’re on time then

And have all the kids gear

And so this is Christmas (Term is over)

The school run is done (We’re exhausted)

Teachers presents are paid for (Mummy’s crying)

All twelve hundred and one (Kids are whining)

We need a new mortgage (Term is over)

To pay for it all (We’re exhausted)

I’ve watched 1000 performances (Mummy’s crying)

And been proud at them all (Kids are whining)
